Questions

Direct answers. No jargon pile-up.

If you still have a question after reading, email us or book a scan and ask in person.

What does an InBody scan measure?

An InBody 580 scan estimates body composition—including body fat, skeletal muscle mass, body water, and visceral fat—using bioelectrical impedance. You receive a printout of your results, and we walk through what the numbers mean in plain language.

Is this a medical test?

No. FBM provides professional body-composition testing and education. A scan is not a medical diagnosis, does not replace care from a licensed clinician, and is not used to diagnose disease.

How is this different from stepping on a scale?

Scale weight is one number. It cannot tell you whether a change came from fat, muscle, or water. Body composition helps you see what actually changed so you can make better training and nutrition decisions.

Who is this for?

Anyone who wants a clearer picture of their body—people working on fat loss, muscle development, performance, or general wellness. You do not need to be an athlete or a gym member to book.

Do I need to be a CrossFit Clearwater member?

No. Scans are available to the public. CrossFit Clearwater members receive an introductory member rate. FBM is an independent brand available at the gym—not a CrossFit or HYROX program.

How should I prepare?

For the most useful reading: avoid eating a large meal for about 2–3 hours, avoid hard training for about 2–3 hours, use the restroom beforehand, and keep hydration consistent. Wear light clothing. We send preparation notes when you book.

How often should I scan?

The first scan is a baseline. Many clients retest every 2–4 weeks while they are actively changing training or nutrition. The Progress Package (four scans over eight weeks) is built for seeing a trend instead of reacting to one day.

Why do testing conditions matter?

Food, training, hydration, and time of day can all shift readings. Consistent conditions make comparisons more useful. We will help you pick a repeatable routine so later scans are comparable to your baseline.

What happens during the appointment?

The scan itself is quick—you stand on the device and hold the hand electrodes. Then we review your results together: where you are now, which metrics matter for your goal, and what to watch on the next scan.

Will you tell me I have a ‘good’ or ‘bad’ body?

No. Numbers are information, not a moral score. We focus on your stated goal, the trend over time, and what is useful to track next.

Can a scan guarantee fat loss or muscle gain?

No. A scan measures. It does not create results by itself, and we do not guarantee outcomes. The value is a clear baseline, an understandable review, and a way to prove progress when you retest.

How do I book?

Use the Book a Scan page to choose a time. If you do not see a time that works, email us and we will find one.
